Our beloved first draft horse, Duke, passed away on August 1st, 2021. He lived an amazing second chance life and lived longer than the vet ever expected with his swollen milk leg.

Duke was the heartbeat and glue of the herd. We often saw him standing on the ridge watching over his herd keeping everyone in line with just a look or whinny.

His favorite role though was choosing to take on being Dad to Levi. They were inseparable even at the end. Duke taught Levi so much and Levi kept Duke young!

In the words of Brydon, Jenn’s 10-year-old great-nephew, Duke is my favorite and should be everyone’s. And that he was…Duke will forever live in our hearts & in the lives of the herd.
